Conjunctions
A conjunction is a word. It can join two parts of a sentence.
→and, but, or, join two sentences of equal importance.
- Use and to join sentences that talk of related facts.
→Nigist sings and dances well.
→The tortoise walked slowly and steadly and won the race.
- Use but to join sentences that have contrasting facts.
→Beniam plays the piano, but he cannot sing.
→The postman pressed the doorbell, but we didn’t hear it.
- Use or to join sentences that give choices.
→ We can play cricket or football.
→ You can have this black pen or the blue one I’m using, but you can’t have both.
